Antique Ivory Quill Cutter and knife bu Lund Cornhill.
ra
The blade is clearly stamped ‘Lund Cornhill’ The Lund family enjoyed an extremely good reputation for producing quality items in particular antique boxes, many with fitted accessories. The company was set up in 1804 by Thomas Lund in 1804 in Cornhill London, initially producing quills and pens but quickly progressing to boxes of various styles. His son William also manufactured boxes independent of his father and was based in Fleet Steet London from circa 1835.
When Thomas died William ran both sites. When William died in 1872 his son William continued the company under the name of William Lund & Son. It is assumed that the cutter was made during the period c1804-1872.
